 Good Morning! I've been thinking about when I started making miniature books going on 25 years ago. I had made many different miniatures before I tried miniature books. Some were successful other were not so great. I made simple miniature items in my childhood for my dolls. Later a dear friend gave my then 6 year old daughter a dollhouse. That was my adult start in making miniatures. Miniature books came about when I built a room box that was supposed to be a tribute to a dear friend who had passed away years before. It is called A Gentleman's Study. I needed books and found they were rather expensive for my budget. I made a few very simple blank page, paperback style books, but just wasn't satisfied. It took me about six months to figure out how to make the books I make now. One of the early books was a modified version of Alice in Wonderland followed by Through the Looking Glass. Here are both with all their sizes available.

I finished listing newly made books to e-bay this morning.  They were replacements of books that had sold out previously: Walter Crane’s Baby’s Own Aesop and Baby’s Opera; Pre-1900 Red Riding Hood Green and Fairy Tales From Anderson; Andrew Lang’s Violet Fairy Book; A Scandal In Bohemia, Sherlock Holmes.

After I list any books on e-bay, I try to remember to update my listing inventory spreadsheet and my books to do spreadsheet.  Recently I spent quite a while going through my e-bay listings and matching the totals to my inventory on hand.  I found a few books that supposedly were listed on e-bay but were not actually there.  So, this morning I added them to my listings: Songs From Alice In Wonderland And Through The Looking-Glass; Walter Crane’s Goody Two Shoes; The Resident Patient, Sherlock Holmes; Aesop’s Fables illustrated by Arthur Rackham.

LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE MINIATURE BOOK IN FOUR SCALES

This morning I realized that I had ignored the fact that I make a number of miniature books in four different scales.  Rather I make more than I thought I did.  I was updating my Face Book Business page album for Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder when I noticed I had not included the 1:3 scale version of Little House On The Prairie.  I finally made a template for showing the four different sizes.  This way it will be much easier to make a picture of the other titles I make in the four scales.

1:24 scale measures 5/8 inch high by ½ inch wide

1:12 scale measures 31/32 inch high by 25/32 inch wide

1:6 scale measures l and 11/16 inch high by 1 and 5/16 inch wide

1:3 scale measures 3 and 3/8 inches high by 2 1/2 inches wide

1:24 scale is also termed half scale.

1:12 scale is also termed one inch scale.

1:6 scale is also termed playscale.

1:3 scale is also termed American Girl scale.

Latest Batch of 1:12 Scale Miniature Books

Today I am working on replenishing my book inventory.  I sometimes get rather behind with this as I get ideas for new books and can’t wait to try them.  Yesterday I gave myself a stern lecture and went to my “Books To Print and Make” spreadsheet.  I was shocked at the number of books that needed doing.  I got the missing titles printed out so I could start cutting today.  I am doing Red Riding Hood Green, Fairy Tales From Anderson, Walter Crane’s  Baby’s Own Aesop, Walter Crane’s Baby's Opera, The Violet Fairy Book and Scandal In Bohemia all In 1:12 Scale.
